Synthesis and crystal structure of Pb 14.66 Sn 7.34 Br 26 (CN 2 ) 7 O 2, a complex member of group 14 carbodiimides

Abstract A mixed lead/tin bromide carbodiimide oxide was synthesized by solid‐state reaction between Pb(CN 2 ), PbBr , SnBr and SnO at 400 °C. Its monoclinic crystal structure solved refined in the space group C 2/ m single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction from a yellow single crystal. One crystallographic site found to be occupied both tin lead, agreement with results of energy‐dispersive spectroscopy (EDX). The comprises complex network tin/lead tetrahedra trigonal bipyramids linked NCN units. In contrast where ion is present as cyanamide moiety, IR‐spectroscopy title compound revealed character ion.
